Dr. Bruce Ennen was raised in north central Iowa with an agricultural background. Hard times led him to Iowa Central College and, at the age of 32, with his wife, Dr. Leigh Ennen, and his children, he entered the University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy. It was there when he decided to apply to Iowa State Veterinary College. He graduated in 1994 from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and, at the age of 39, began work as a veterinarian in Dubuque. After he and Dr. Leigh had both completed their education, they eventually built Riverside Animal Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa and moved to North Brady Animal Hospital in Davenport, Iowa in 2001.
He has been blessed with two children, Brooke and Major, and two grandchildren, Noah and Hudson. He shares his life with the love of his life, Dr. Leigh Ennen. Their family is completed by a number of animals including dogs, Boone, Trig, Val, and Angus; their cats, Andy and Opie; their horses, Friday, Jelly, Moses, and Whimsey; and their lizard, Fidel.
Dr. Leigh Ennen is a veterinarian, and co-owner of Edgewood Animal Hospital with Dr. Bruce Ennen. The Ennens sold their AAHA hospital, North Brady Animal Hospital, in Davenport, Iowa and purchased Edgewood Animal Hospital in February of 2008.
Dr. Ennen graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Since then, she has worked as a small animal veterinarian and particularly enjoys working on internal medicine cases. The Ennens have a variety of animals for pets. Their clan includes horses, dogs, cats, birds, and a lizard.
Dr. Karen Taylor grew up on a Kansas farm and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1976. She was fortunate to be admitted to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State in 1976 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1980. She moved to Iowa in 1980 and worked for a mixed animal clinic (farm animals & pets) for 5 years. In 1985 she joined the Edgewood Animal Hospital staff.
Karen has had many furry children through the years. Currently she and her husband have one house cat, five farm cats, and five horses. She truly enjoys being a veterinarian. The wonderful variety of people and their pets, the challenges of solving difficult cases, the thankfulness that clients express when you help their pet, all this and more make each day an exciting adventure.
Dr. Erin Meaney spent most of her early years "cat wrangling" on the family farm near Oelwein, Iowa. She received her A.S. degree from Ellsworth Community College in 1992 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1996. Before joining the Edgewood Animal Hospital staff in 2001, she practiced veterinary medicine in southern Iowa and Illinois.
She is the proud mother of five beautiful felines. When they allow her time, she enjoys reading, cross-stitching, cooking, and playing the French Horn.
Dr. Sheryl Arensdorf graduated in 1996 from Iowa State University with a B. S. in Biology. She continued on at ISU and graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. After graduation, she practiced for 3 years in Moline, Illinois.
She and her husband relocated to Cedar Rapids to be closer to family and she joined the staff of Edgewood Animal Hospital in 2004. She finds her chosen field satisfying and enjoys helping clients with their pets for routine and non-routine health care. Her furry family includes 4 cats, Denny, Jerry, Genie, and Caitlin.
Dr. Christine Ehlers is a native of Dubuque, Iowa, where she graduated from Loras College in 2005.She is a 2009 graduate of Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine.
Since recently accepting a position with Edgewood Animal Hospital, she is excited about living and working in Cedar Rapids.Her family includes a trouble-making Beagle and an aquarium full of fish.
Dr. Jonelle Hankner graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 1993 and graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from ISU in 1997. She enjoys veterinary medicine because it gives her an opportunity to help those who cannot help themselves. She feels that it offers a lot of diversity and is just not limited to one specialty; the opportunities are countless.
Her furry family includes three German Shorthaired Pointers that have been rescued into a spoiled life of luxury. They enjoy the great outdoors, as well as the great indoors!
Dr. Sue Delaney grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and moved to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa. She graduated from the College of Nursing and worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital until she again became a student in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State. Since obtaining her DVM degree in 1998, she has worked as a small animal practitioner around the Iowa City area. "I joined the Edgewood Animal Hospital team in August 2008. I am especially interested in internal medicine and oncology. In my free time, I bleed 'Cubbie' blue (especially this year!!!), and enjoy playing the guitar and piano unless I'm fishing." Though currently dog-less, she is fairly well trained in the service of one cat, Sophie.
Dr. Justina Conrad is a native of Cedar Rapids. She attended Iowa State University and received her B.S. in Animal Science in 2006 and her degree of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She and her husband decided to return to Cedar Rapids to be closer to their family and friends. She is excited to be part of the Edgewood Animal Hospital family and enjoys the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people and their pets.
Her furry family includes their dog, Alderon; 3 cats, Sammy, Smokey, and Cambria; and their rabbit, Smudge. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing the flute, and spending time with her family.
