Veterinary Technicians
Sara spent three years at the University of Iowa studying pharmacy before deciding veterinary technology was her calling in life. She worked at The Animal Clinic in Iowa City for a year before graduating from Kirkwood Community College in 2010 with an AAS in veterinary technology. She moved from Iowa City to North Liberty in 2010 and joined the Edgewood Animal Hospital team. Outside of work Sara enjoys playing music with her band and spending time with her pets. Her family at home consists of Beau (a yorkie/miniature pinscher), Sparrow (a yorkie/pomeranian) and Prudence (a fancy rat). All three were rescue animals and are the perfect example of “my pets are my kids”.
Zach was a May 2010 graduate from Kirkwood Community College with an AAS in veterinary technology. In his free time he likes to play volleyball, be outdoors and listen to music. He has always had a love for animals and so decided to go into a career field where he could work with and help them. At home he has a Hedgehog (Silas) a rat (Shane) as well as a tank full of fish.
Cassandra is a Registered Veterinary Technician who graduated from Kirkwood College in May 2006 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree. She sat for her board exam certification in June 2006 to obtain her certification as an RVT. She currently resides in Marion, IA. Her love in life has always been to help animals and work with people. She has previously worked at a few pet stores during high school and loved it so much she pursued her technician degree to medically help animals. At home she has two dogs, a Beagle, Frankie, and a Border Collie/Pitbull Mix, Nile, one cat, Milo, a rat, Pikachu, and a Beta Fish. She loves spending time outdoors with her husband, two kids, and pets.
Brandi is also a 2003 graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an AAS in Veterinary Technology. She loves spending time with her dogs, Abby, Toby, and Mickey. You will find Brandi playing flyball with Abby and Mickey on their team the "Dog Gone Devils". In her free time she enjoys playing with her son, Kaden, scrapbooking, playing volleyball, softball, and running. Brandi grew up with many different kinds of animals and always knew she would choose a career working with and helping animals.
Jessica graduated with an AAS in Veterinary Technology in 2007 from Kirkwood Community College. She loves spending time with her Cocker Spaniel, Copper Todd, and her kitten, Addy Jo. Together they like to go on long walks, camp and fish. She enjoys most outdoor activities including swimming and biking. She also enjoys scrapbooking and photography.
Nicole graduated from the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology September 2006 in Denver, Colorado. She shares her free time with her horse, Colby, two Labs, Skyler and Marley, and a cat, Pouncer. She enjoys playing flyball with her dogs, riding horseback, camping, swimming, and reading. She enjoys her position at Edgewood Animal Hospital because she deeply cares for all animals and she enjoys assisting new pet owners with the new family additions.
Kristy grew up on a small beef farm in southwest Iowa, where she was exposed to cattle, pigs, horses, cats, and dogs from early on. The many opportunities she received assisting her parents inspired her to pursue her career in veterinary technology.
In 2005 she relocated to Cedar Rapids to attend Kirkwood Community College and graduated in 2008 with an AAS in Veterinary Technology. Along the way she acquired a cat, Fozzie, and a Guinea Pig, Mellow. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, the outdoors, and reading.
Kim enjoys her time with four furry friends, 2 kittens she hand raised, Dozer and Icecube, and two dogs, Spencer and Coco. She loves her job because she is able to make a difference in so many pet's lives. She went into this profession to help be a voice for the animals that each of us love. Kim is a 2008 graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an AAS in Veterinary Technology.
Tara P. graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 1997 and did her internship at North Brady Animal Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. She started at Edgewood Animal Hospital in 1998.
Her furry family includes a Lab/Shepherd Mix, Butter, and her Rottweiler, Ellis. She enjoys seeing and socializing with all of the animals. She selected this field she enjoys helping animals anyway she can.
Crystal is originally from Waterloo, IA. She is a 2006 graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an AAS in Veterinary Technology. She currently resides in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Tret, and their Golden Retriever, Chase, and three cats, Tooter, Middles, and Mouse. What she enjoys most is spending time with her husband, being outdoors, and fishing. Her biggest passion has always been to work with animals.
Veterinary Assistants
Andrea has been with Edgewood Animal Hospital since 2004, after completing her education at Kirkwood Community College in 2003. Andrea is responsible for the inventory at Edgewood Animal Hospital and enjoys working with all of the pets we care for on a daily basis. She is greeted at home by her three furry friends, Allie, Killer, and Rosie.
