Edgewood Animal Hospital maintains an extensive inventory of medications in our pharmacy. Many are prepared in chewable forms or flavored solutions to make administration of medication to your pet more convenient. We work closely with a certified compounding pharmacy to make custom preparations not commercially available. A common request is for transdermal medications for hard to pill cats. Some medications can be administered transdermally by applying a special gel formulation to the hairless portion of the ear.

We are implementing a semiannual blood monitoring program for animals that receive medications on a daily basis. This important testing helps us determine if your pet is experiencing any ill effects from the medication, and whether some medications are remaining in the bloodstream at an optimal level. We can make adjustments in the dosage or suggest alternative medications if the monitoring tests indicate a problem. You may notice blood monitoring information on your pet's prescription labels. Please make an appointment to schedule the bloodwork at the designated date so that we can continue to fill your pet's prescriptions

Call in your prescription refill a couple of hours ahead of time so we can have prepared when you arrive.
